This allowed her to produce quantities of figurines while maintaining the quality of her hand painting. Martha incorporated Marty Sculpture in 1977, and in 1980 her
husband joined the company full time as growth accelerated. This freed Martha from the burden of everyday business, allowing her to concentrate all her talents on designing. In June of 1995 Marty Sculpture moved to the sunny
coastal town of Wilmington, North Carolina. Over the years, Martha has designed and created hundreds of figurines which adorn homes all over the world. During one period, she retired 160 designs to allow room for her
newest releases. Martha's work has become known for its expressiveness and quality. There is something magical in her figurines that brings out the essence of her subject. Martha has created several different lines, one of which
is the family of elephants called The Herd. Martha's HERD figurines depict the everyday activities and the many personalities of its members, from the three-year old sitting on Mom's hip, to a mother helping her baby up over a
ledge, to the antics of youngsters playing. Martha has also created a cute and cuddly line of dragons we all know as the "Dragon Keep". While many dragons are running around the countryside breathing fire and
eating people, Martha's dragons are friendly little characters willing to help you with your different moods. Martha has a unique way of bringing out the inner nature of the subject that collectors recognize and appreciate.
Other recognized lines created by Martha Carey include: Whiskers (friendly canines charming us with their warm smiles, retired 1996), Purrfect Pets(perfect felines posing amidst their most creative activities), BearFoot
(including Black Bears, Koala, Panda, and Polar Bears proudly demonstrating their playful daily routines).Biography from Marty Sculptures. |
