The individuals working within and for this collection are among some of the best known and experienced in this industry. The founders of Karas & Rocha are: Joe Karas and Tracy Rocha; a combined total of over 40 years of experience and know-how within this art form to bring forward a truly unique and exhilarating experience in fine art collecting.

However, one of the greatest difficulties we have in offering this line of fine handcrafted products from the Phoenix Collection is to be found directly in the fact that these items are handcrafted by individual artisans. As a result of this hand craftsmanship, sizes may vary somewhat from one same item to the next.
This does not mean that the same exact items will not have exactly the same components and volume to those components as another, but what it does mean is that the actual dimensions, --height, width or depth-- based on the pitch and angle of mounting, may vary to some degree. One craftsman may splay a pair of wings outward on a dragon--lowering the height and thereby increasing the width-- while another may do totally the opposite, with the same dragon, thus altering the dimensions to the opposite degree.

Good American pewter is a very flexible and durable alloy, not to be confused with lead castings, --which are not very flexible and can break easily.
By taking the wings, tails, arms, legs and even the heads of these pieces --and a lot of practice-- we can reshape various components of these items safely to create a wholly new look and size of dimension, for most of the items found in this file. We do this often when assisting people in building their own custom designed chess sets and we are asked to make various pieces fit the squares of their boards--yes, we can help you design your own customs chess sets. From small miniatures to large table top sets.
In the meantime we just want you to know that when we put a size on a specific piece in this file, what we will be doing is giving you our best estimate on that size with a tendency towards the conservitive.
