also closed, as usual, on Monday and Tuesday. Entering our main store Wenesday
morning, we found our answering machine tape not only filled, but the phone beginning to ring with a relentless consistancy. A situation which immediately led to the discovery of some very unhappy people.
Having placed
nineteen of the original "Cruisings" we had apparently become the largest holder of the 'First Right of Refusal' to the release of "Sunday Drive". Collectors around the country, having not made matched number arrangements with
their dealers to acquire "Sunday Drive, suddenly found themselves unable to locate, what was already, a sold-out edition. The studio, not knowing that all of our pieces had been committed, told those calling in to contact us,
because if anyone would have additional pieces, it would be us. A situation which did not happen, due to the fact that not one of our collectors refused their right to their matched number. Something that was very difficult to
explain to those who did not even know that the program existed.
Within a very short time, well before the release of "Beach Bound", the third and last release in the collection, the first two releases, "Cruising" and
"Sunday Drive", had entered the aftermarket as a matched numbered set at a very nice premium. |
